Results are up!

After a very sucessful race last weekend, we've got the results up online. Take a look over on the prizes/results page.

The first 12/24 was so much fun we've decided to do it again!

The race will incorporate both 12 and 24 hour events catering to all skill levels from punters to pro's with the option to race as an individual or as part of a team of up to six riders.

The organisers would like to say a special thankyou to Bernard and Maria Wooley for the use of their land.

Without their help and generosity this event would not be possible.

other awsome events coming up

What should I expect?

Even though the race is either 12 or 24 hours long it doesn't mean that every competitor must ride for the whole time. Most riders will compete as part of a relay team, with one active rider at a time. When not riding, the rest of the team relaxes in the event HQ area, recuperating in time for another lap.

The competition part of the Kellevie 12/24hr MTB Race centres around a relay, where individuals or teams of up to six people (pairs configurations only for 12 hour) compete to ride as many laps as possible in a 12/24 hour time frame. Our race categories have been designed to accommodate all levels of fitness, so whether you are a punter or a pro the event will suit you.

You can choose to race as a Solo nutter, or create a team of up to six people, depending on your level of fitness and the challenge you wish to set yourself. Each participant is required to complete only one lap, the team's objective however, is to complete as many laps as possible within the 12/24 hour time frame.

A selection of prizes will be on offer. These include cash prizes for category wins and also for the fastest lap time, there will also be spot prizes handed out at the close of the event.

More detailed information on the prizes up for grabs can be found on the prizes page of this web-site.

How hard will it be?

The race is achievable for anyone with a decent level of fitness, reasonable mountain biking skills, the ability to look after themselves and to plan properly for their requirements in terms of food, camping and fluids.

Be realistic about your abilities and plan properly so you can enjoy the event.

What facilities are available for camping?

The camping and social atmosphere of the event HQ area will be as much a part of the race as the riding.

A large flat area, close to the transition zone has been set aside for competitors camping, there will be clean fresh water available as well as toilet's and a charge station. Food, caffeine, bike shops and competitor entertainment facilities will also be located on-site.

Car parking will be tight, so obey all directions.

Please consider other campers around you, particularly after midnight. It is requested that you leave the loud music (of whatever variety) and the swearing at home.

Please respect the fact that this is farmland and leave your dog at home. there is no exception.

How do I get there?

The Kellevie 12/24 hour race track is located approximately 45 minutes drive from the centre of Hobart and 30 minutes drive from the Hobart Airport.

To get there cross the Tasman Bridge and follow the A3 highway, past the Hobart Airport, for roughly 25 kilometres passing through Midway Point to reach the town of Sorell.

Once in Sorell drive through the town centre until you reach a T intersection, turn right here onto the A9 highway. Follow the highway for around 20 kilometres until you reach the Kellevie turnoff, turn left onto the Kellevie road.

Follow this road for 4 kilometres where you turn left on to Nugent road for about 300 metres till you reach the site entrance on your left. sign posts and marshals will direct you to parking areas, camping sites, and race start which are located at the race village.

The major turns will be signposted prior to the event, and a detailed map outlining the route is available for download here.

Interstate travellers

Virgin Blue, Qantas and Jetstar offer flights into Hobart. The airport is 20 minutes from the city centre and 30 minutes from the Kellevie race track.

The TT-Line sails twice a day and offers passenger and car transport from Melbourne to Devonport (3 hour drive to Hobart).
